The Village of Tivoli
NY Hudson Valley
When you think of Hudson Valley towns, the word quaint will be thrown around quite a bit. However, upon driving onto Broadway as you cross the tiny bridge and enter the village of Tivoli, you will understand how the word applies so much so to this historic, tiny town.
Tivoli is a 1.8 square mile community that provides an array of dining options, opportunities to shop local, and a welcoming creative community.
The town was founded in 1795 and Incorporated in 1872.
Population of recorded on 2010 census is 1118. Predominantly older residential homes and many historic sites and properties.
OUR TAKE ON TIVOLI
Begin your day with breakfast at Tivoli Bread and Baking, where you are guaranteed thoughtfully crafted coffee, freshly baked pastries as you’ve never had before, or a solid sandwich to tide you over until the late afternoon. The sticky bun alone might make it hard for you to leave! Sit on the lush green grass in front and strike up a conversation with a friendly local or satisfy your curiosity and visit Murray’s next door, which is a cafe/event space in an old church. Grab some snacks for later, peak at the magical event space upstairs, and head on your way to borrow a book from the Tivoli Free Library just across the street.
Take a stroll to the waterfront with your newly borrowed book and enjoy stunning Hudson River views while feeling the river breeze on your face. The Tivoli park just up the hill from the river will be an oasis for little ones to teenagers. The park provides a spacious baseball field, two playgrounds, a basketball court, and a newly designed skate park. Built-up an appetite from all the fresh air? Head over to Santa Fe for some quality Mexican food, Osaka for fresh Japanese cuisine, or The Corner for the Mediterranean.
Too tired to go home? Spend the night at The Corner and stay up late people watching from the wrap around porch. If you get thirsty, Traghavan Whiskey Pub is just a stone’s throw away. Enjoy a nightcap and listen to live music or partake in some trivia with the locals and Bard college students.
You might want never to leave Tivoli and for good reason. The community works hard to create fun activities for all ages to enjoy. Tivoli Yard Sale day is a prime time to stumble upon other people’s treasures, Tivoli Street Painting day will bring out your inner artist, and the many gallery exhibitions will keep you inspired. Don’t wait a moment longer to visit this gem of a town and perhaps make it your new home.
It isn’t a coincidence that Tivoli is I LOV IT backward.
